Kylie Minogue Like You’ve Never Heard Her Before

It’s a pity Kylie Minogue publicly said in an interview that she will never do a similarly styled Impossible Princess album again. It would’ve been perfect, at this point in her career, to make one, because most of her younger fans would not be familiar with the work she did in this album. This was released way back in 1997 – and even I, who was already musically active at that time, didn’t quite notice the album, mainly because it wasn’t pushed hard enough by her record company here in the Philippines. Though the songs in the album are not the usual Kylie Minogue songs that one is accustomed to listening to, especially that her output these past two decades have largely been dance-inspired albums, another one of this type of this album late in her career, would definitely get her fans talking – and hopefully see her from another perspective. Yes, her Golden album was in itself a very personal album, it wasn’t as adventurous as this one. For this album, it was like Kylie Minogue said to her production team – “Fuck it, let’s do something different, something I’ve never done before, vocally, something that I don’t usually do, something that would make my fans do a double take – when they hear the songs from this album on the radio”. Incidentally, Kylie Minogue, had songwriting credits in almost all the songs in this album, produced some of the tracks and worked with different producers whose previous work verged more on rock, trip hop and electronic music – and the results are quite evident in the songs from this album. Yes, the dance influence is still there – I don’t think you can totally eradicate that from any Kylie Minogue album – but the tracks have veered away from it – and it is one of those rare instances that you can hear her in a rock-inspired ditty.

OUT OF THE CREEKS WITH THE STORY OF BLOOMING HEARTS.

Kylie Minogue is an Australian born vocalist trying to keep her music career afloat the turbulent waters. When looking for an exceptionally awesome album, Kylie is clearly not an option to bank on. Her chivalrous break into the music platform came with her 2001 single "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" which steered the singer down the path of greatness. Kylie Minogue’s 2007 album X amassed success for the singer yet critics and music lovers have tagged her grown-up dance-pop music style insipid. Despite such criticism, the artist still remains one of the few pop queens causing damage on the dance floor. The songstress tipped about working on a new album in the middle of 2009 with songwriters and producers such as Jake Shears, vocalist of The Scissors Sisters and the legendary pop man of the moment and producer Stuart Price. The collaboration came as a pleasant surprise widely celebrated by her fans who anticipated a killer album, definitely a good hype for the album. Aphrodite is dance-pop driven courtesy of Stuart Price and his team. Price, who has made his blueprint in music production is responsible for killer modern disco records which includes Frankmusik’s 3 Words, Scissor Sisters’ “Night Work”, The Killer’s “Day & Age” and Madonna’s legendary Confessions on a Dance Floor. After achieving such great feat, one can only imagine what the sizzling touch of Price would do to Kylie’s album if not sleekness, freshness and perfection. Other producers and writers involved in the making of the album include Calvin Harris, Sebastian Ingrosso and Pascal Gabriel. One significant thing about Kylie is the strong bond between her voice and music instruments; it sounds magical to the ears and remains a mystery to this day. The Australian singer Kylie Minogue released her eleventh studio album Aphrodite under record label Parlophone on the 5th of July, 2010. Aphrodite is basically dance-pop and disco but draws inspiration from other genres like electro-pop, club, rave music and hi-NRG. The album recorded a good number of positive reviews and was generally graded a success. Aphrodite reached the pinnacle by topping as number two in the Australian Albums chart and number one on the UK Albums chart. The album was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association and earned Minogue the Guinness World Record for achieving top five albums in the United Kingdom in decades consecutively. These achievements added to Kylie’s tally making her album one of the most successful albums of all time and the most successful album in her career.

The Need For Commercial Success Of Kylie Minogue Has Caused Her To Remain Stagnant In Her Musical Career.

Kylie has seen extremely high levels of success and that level of success comes with more fans that will always have high expectations. Sadly, since she released the smashing single “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” in 2001, creating hits has been a struggle. It seems that since the world tasted the best of Minogue, they have refused to settle for anything less. Just like most of her previous works, Body Language tried too hard. It was just too obvious that the persona she was trying to convey on the tracks didn’t meet the standard of her past albums. You will think that after all the time the artist has spent recycling the same material, she was going to try something new but sadly that isn’t the case. About twelve of the songs on the track sound the same as her previous tracks while parading the same pudenda that she has joyfully paraded around the world for more than a decade. Although, she put an extreme amount of effort into the album, the fact still remains that the world has already experienced the vibes that she is trying so hard to sell. The songstress made a move from disco to different strains of synth pop. The libidinous lyricism is the same as those that were featured on her past works. Personally, I believe pop is a lot more than that, it’s a means through which various artist have expressed theirselves and their opinions about various issues. Probably, the Kylie Minogue is just focused on commercial success so her music is always focused on the one thing that always sells; “sex”. If that is the case, then the princess of pop is actually really shallow.

An epoch way to celebrate a golden jubilee by sharing epic life stories

Kylie Minogue is one out of a few dedicated musicians who dedicate their lives to their music career to see it reach its apex. Kylie though advanced in age (almost 50 years old) still has the nostalgic charismatic sensation in her rhythms. The Australian singer has recorded multiple successes in her musical career tallying fourteen albums in her 30 years of active music. Kylie’s intent for her 50 years of sojourning the earth was to create an album that commemorates her Golden Jubilee celebration, hence the album title Golden. The album is intended to be a form of an autobiography for the songstress telling the story of her transition from a dance queen to the stardom she has enjoyed. Many reformations have been recorded for Kylie’s music style as she was first unveiled vintage-pop then transformed to the sophisticated Kylie we all know today. Though the artist has never attained the pinnacle state where icons like Madonna have conquered, yet her footprints are deeply engraved in the sands of time. Golden is the 14th studio album released on April 6th 2018 by the pop star via BMG/Liberator Music. The 40 minutes track is the first of its kind from Kylie with modern day genre fusion of disco/dance and country-esque pop. Since the album was something personal, no other person was fit to tell the story of Kylie’s life better than herself so the album “Golden” was co-written and co-produced by the artiste. Being one of her most personal efforts, the album is a gallery of life travails including death, failed relationships, dancing and living life to the fullest. Little wonder why the album encapsulates country music and the feeling of home purity as majority of the album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. The Australian tinsel fairy recorded Golden shortly after her split from her former fiance. Upon listening to the album, one would mistake having the legendary Madonna on the microphone while doing a full split on the dance floor.
